Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Development Forum Held

Leading figures gathered at Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, sharing thoughts on the prospects of shipbuilding industry.



On October 19th, a top event in the field of shipbuilding and marine engineering—Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Development Forum was held in the festive atmosphere of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, who was celebrating her 80th anniversary. The forum was centered around the idea that we should seize the opportunity and promote the development of shipbuilding and marine engineering, which was pointed out in the 18th CPC National Congress. WU Yousheng (member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering), ZHANG Guangqin (President of China Shipbuilding Industry Association), HUANG Pintao (President of China Shipbuilding Engineering Society), Mr. Ryzhkov Sergey (President of Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding, Ukraine) and other leading figures in the shipbuilding industry gathered at Jiangsu University of Science and Technology. They displayed the latest research outcomes and explorations in the field, and made their predictions about the trends of the industry. Through inspiring brainstorms, they were dedicated to thinking of new ideas for the development of shipbuilding and marine engineering industry.


The leading figures also included LI Guo’an (Director of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, Science and Technology Committee), ZHANG Ailong (Deputy Inspector of the Department of Higher Education), QIN Yan (Director of National Defense Science and Industry of Jiangsu Province), WANG Changsheng (Deputy Mayor of Zhenjiang), WANG Jianhua (Party Secretary of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology), and WANG Zili (President of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology). WANG Jianhua hosted the forum’s opening ceremony.


In the afternoon, a group of leaders and experts exchanged their ideas on the potential research areas of shipbuilding and marine engineering technology, the collaboration between industries and the prospects of shipbuilding and marine engineering industry in Jiangsu Province. Among the leaders and experts were WANG Yanguo (Deputy Director of the Technology Department of China Shipbuilding Industry), LI Guo’an, FANG Shujia (Vice Chariman of China Shipbuilding Society), WANG Mianlian (Secretary-General of China Shipbuilding Industry Association) and YANG Zhongmin (Director of China Classification Society, Shanghai Institute).


The experts pointed out that although China shipbuilding industry enjoyed a fast growth in the past decades, it is now facing new challenges. We should collaborate on tracing the trends, analyzing the problems and finding out the best solutions for shipbuilding and marine engineering industry. The Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Development Forum turned out to be a meaningful event for the industry, as it has acted a positive role in pushing the progress of the industry.
