The Establishment of Guangzhou Institution-Locality Collaborative Innovation Alliance

On November 5, the establishment of Guangzhou Institution-Locality Collaborative Innovation Alliance meeting was held in Guangzhou university town. Member of Standing Committee of CPC Guangdong Government and Municipal Party Secretary Wan Qingliang, Guangzhou Vice Party Secretary and Mayor Chen Jianhua, Provincial Head of Ministry of Education Luo Weiqi, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering Zhong Nanshan and Qu Jinping as well as the main leader of the 62 allied social science association were attending the meeting. South China University of Technology’s Secretary of Party Committee Du Xiaoming attended the meeting and gave a speech.

Guangzhou Institution-Locality Collaborative Innovation Alliance is an open and non-profit-making association, founded by Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government, Educational Bureau of Guangdong Province, world famous universities and research organizations and enterprises. With the innovation demands of industries and enterprises as leading factor, supported by innovative power of colleges and research organizations, taking government’s administrative power as guidance, the alliance aims at promoting collaboration among innovative main body, promoting collaboration between the commercialization of research findings and strengthened industrial chain, promoting collaboration between technological innovation and institutional innovation. With talents cultivating, achievements making and economic benefit gaining, the alliance effectively promotes innovations constantly emerging, forming the comprehensive competitiveness of Guangzhou as a national key city, making great contributions to advance the new urbanization. Wan Qingliang was elected as the first president of the alliance. Chen Jianhua, Luo Weiqi were the vice president. South China University of Technology was elected as the deputy director unit of the alliance. Vice Principal of the South China University of Technology Zhang Xichun was attending the first meeting of the first council session.

At the meeting, Du Xiaoming on behalf of the college alliance gave a speech. He pointed out that the establishment of Guangzhou Institution-Locality Collaborative Innovation Alliance is another effective method to promote Guangzhou new-type urbanization development. South China University of Technology insists on that service industry and enterprise should focus on the demand of Guangzhou new urbanization, comprehensively promoting “government-industry-university-research-use” deep cooperation, actively advancing commercialization of research findings, achieving a number of landmark achievements in the field of strategic leading industry. South China University of Technology is the important base of high-level talent training and scientific research, and the source of enterprise technology innovation, technology progress and industrial personnel training. South China University of Technology will actively take part in the job connected with Guangzhou Institution-Locality Cooperative Innovation Alliance, making more contribution to build a “multivariate, sharing, dynamic, lasting” collaborative innovation alliance with Guangzhou characteristics and the construction of Guangzhou new urbanization.
