Singapore delegation visits HEU

On Oct.8th, a delegation from Singapore visited HEU, led by the Director of Singapore Maritime Institute, Heng Chiang Gnee and Vice Provost of the National University of Singapore, CHAN Eng Soon. HEU President LIU Zhihang and Vice President XIA Guihua met with the delegation. 


The meeting was presided over by Vice President XIA. President LIU welcomed the delegation, and expressed his desire to promote mutual development through educational and scientific research cooperation. This visit helped to deepen mutual understanding. Director Heng Chiang Gnee said they gained a better understanding of HEU's shipping building and marine engineering, and they felt confident about future cooperation.


During the meeting, members of the delegation introduced their research progress in the field of Marine Engineering. They are from Maritime Singapore, the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Polytechnic, and An Polytechnic. HEU introduced their research situation and progress in deep sea engineering, autonomy type submersibles, ocean research vessels, ocean power technology, and advanced materials research. The two parties made an initial cooperation agreement to build an international organization through the innovation of ship building and ocean engineering, and agreements relating to cooperation projects, teachers academic exchanges, and graduate students' training. They agreed to sign the agreement in order to promote the implementation of cooperation projects as soon as possible.


Before the meeting, the Singapore delegation also visited the Marine Advanced Materials Research Institute at HEU's College of Material Science and Chemical Engineering, and laboratories of the College of Shipbuilding Engineering, including different hydrodynamics equipment including marine horizontal circulation channels, ship towing tank and deep water basin.


Various HEU college leaders and young teachers participated in the meeting coming from various schools including the College of Shipbuilding Engineering, the College of Power and Energy Engineering, the College of Underwater Acoustic Engineering and the College of Material Science and Chemical Engineering.
