The International Joint Research Center of Ship And Ocean Engineering Mechanics Identified by Ministry of Science and Technology

A few days ago, the International Joint Research Center of Ship And Ocean Engineering Mechanics which is organized by Deep-ocean Engineering and High Technology of Ship and Innovative center, was identified by the National Ministry of Science and Technology.

In 2014, the total number of state-level International Joint Research Center that has been identified by the National Ministry of Science and Technology is only 15 in the whole country. The International Joint Research Center of Ship and Ocean Engineering Mechanics is the only state-level ones in Heilongjiang Province this year.

The International Joint Research Center of Ship and Ocean Engineering Mechanics depends on the national key discipline of ship and ocean engineering and it also cooperates with 14 international prestigious universities that are expert in this field, such as the University of California, Berkeley, University of Southampton, UK, State Marine Technical University of ST. Petersburg, etc and four international maritime research and certification agencies as well, such as Bureau Veritas(BV). Professor Duan Wenyang, who is the director and chief scientist of green energy conservation and environmental protection technology innovation team in our center and a distinguished professor of “Cheung Kong Scholars”, holds the post of director. The center also invites several overseas academic masters, such as Professor Webster, the American academician of National Academy of Engineering and professor of University of California, Berkeley, Odd Magnus Faltinsen, the academician of Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Academy of Engineering, foreign academician of American National Academy of Engineering and Chinese National Academy of Engineering and professor of Norwegian University of Science and Technology and so on.

The aim is to let the state-level international joint research center become an international leading platform in China that is technological, talents gathered and demonstrative. It is set up to carry out the spirit of national conference on technological innovation, implement the deployment of “International Cooperation in Science and Technology ,the Specialized Twelfth Five-year Plan”, further expand the cooperation of science and technology in a open way, make full use of global resources in science and technology innovation, create an international cooperation mode of science and technology that combines the development of “project - talents – base” and improve the quality China's international cooperation of science and technology, enhance independent innovation ability, etc.
