Introduction: The Chinese Classification Society (CCS) and MAN Diesel & Turbo SE signed a technical cooperation framework agreement at the 17th international maritime exhibition held in Shanghai on 4th December.

On 4th December, CCS signed a technical cooperation framework agreement with MAN Diesel & Turbo SE at the 17th Marintec Exhibition in Shanghai. This is yet another cooperation with a leading international ship power equipment manufacturer after CCS signed the technology cooperation framework with WARTSILA at the beginning of this year. They also launched a new LNG dual fuel ship during the exhibition.

According to the agreement, the two sides will cooperate fully in ship design, ship type development, ship power (including propulsion systems), ship automation, environmental protection technology, and energy efficiency.  Cooperation projects include new product approval, new ship design and development, the formulation of standard criteria, research project cooperation, the exchange of technology and information, and market cooperation.

CCS vice president SUN Feng and MAN's executive director Moman Stephen signed an agreement on behalf of the two parties. CCS assistant chief engineer CHEN Shi, MAN's senior vice president Thomas, and its Chinese CEO Cashin attended the signing ceremony.

At the scene of the signing, SUN Feng and MAN's executive director Dr. Moman Stephen accepted interviews with China Dragon TV and other media outlets. SUN Feng said that CCS is one of the first-class international classification societies and carries out the historic task of being a pioneer in shipping and shipbuilding technology. CCS and MAN have a long history of friendly cooperation. The present cooperation will allow the two sides to complement each other and will provide better service for the shipping and shipbuilding industry. Dr. Moman said that MAN is one of the leading international ship power equipment manufacturers and China is its most important market. They hoped to work with the most powerful Chinese partner in order to not only win their customers' trust, but to provide better service to their customers; this is the reason they chose CCS. He looks forward to the cooperation's prospects due to the strong unity they’ve established.

MAN is a well-known international power equipment manufacturer and also the main supplier of marine engines. It holds the leading technology in the field of marine power, and occupies a large market share in the new global shipbuilding market.
