Collaborative Innovation Helped CCS to Forge Chinese Shipbuilding Soft Power
Experts Coming to Harbin Engineering University to Popularize COMPASS-WALCS
COMPASS-WALCS 2014 User Annual Meeting and Wave Load Technology and Application Workshop, which was sponsored by the Deep Ocean Engineering and High-tech Shipbuilding Collaborative Innovation Center and presented by Harbin Engineering University and CCS was held between February 17-19 in HEU.
The vice chairman of CCS Zhu Kai, vice president of HEU Xia Guihua and more than 50 experts from CCS Beijing headquarters, Guangzhou branch office, Shanghai branch office, Wuhan branch office, Nanjing branch office,708 Research Institution of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), 701 Research Institution of China Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Corporation (CSIC), China International Marine Containers (CIMC), China Ship Design & Research Center Company, Shanghai Bestway Marine Engineering Design Company, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSIC), China Ocean ShippingCompany (COSCO Shipyard) and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Company (SWS) attended the meeting. Prof. Ren Huilong from HEU Shipbuilding Engineering Department hosted the meeting.
The meeting aimed at enhancing the communication of technology between COMPASS-WALCS users and asking for their using feedbacks to further improve the practicability of the software. To improve users’ application skills of the software operation, the meeting also arranged a training session of COMPASS-WALCS.
COMPASS-WALCS, which was first unveiled in 2013 Marintec China was a three-dimensional wave load calculating software developed by the collaborative innovation exploit joint team from CCS and HEU. It was applicable to calculating wave loads of three-dimensional zero speed floating body and normal speed ships, and provided the basis for wave load design value of ocean structures in every designed environment. The software has calculation stability, high precision and high reliability and can meet the integrative needs of analyzing load and structure. The software is practical with various observed sea wave data. Now COMPASS-WALCS has ranked in list of CCS drawing-censoring softwares and been commercially popularizing fully.
The Deep Ocean Engineering and High-tech Shipbuilding Collaborative Innovation Center would take advantages of universities and companies in every aspect, further enhance cooperation between universities and companies, promote the innovation ability of talents, discipline and scientific research and strive for leading and promoting the development of China deep sea engineering and high-tech shipbuilding industry. CCS and HEU plan to jointly develop the softwares of three-dimensional linear hydroelastic analysis, three-dimensional nonlinear hydroelastic analysis, floating platform, mooring system and riser coupling analysis, and three-dimensional nonlinear time domain.
