Visit by Professor Mario Farrugia of the University of Malta
From May 8 to May 10, Professor Mario Farrugia of the University of Malta visited the College of Power and Energy Engineering of Harbin Engineering University to discuss the progress of the key projects of the national key research and development program “Intergovernmental International Cooperation in Science and Technology Innovation”. He had in-depth exchanges with teachers of the College in personnel training, education and teaching, and was invited to participate in the “Source Creation” forum for academic reports.
On the afternoon of May 9, Professor Farrugia was invited by the Association for Science and Technology of the College and the Youth Academic Association to give a lecture at the 14th session of the “Source Creation” Forum. He explained design and optimization of the engine electronic control unit (ECU), analyzed design requirements and working characteristics of different types of ECU on the basis of his research experience. The content covered numerical modeling and bench testing, and his research on internal combustion engine control was comprehensively presented to teachers and students.
On May 10, Professor Farrugia discussed the cooperation project with representatives of teachers and students of the College, and had deep interactions with them in the aspects of inlet and exhaust timing optimization, combustion chamber structure optimization, and fault diagnosis of diesel/natural gas dual-fuel engines, and put forward relevant suggestions for students to carry out scientific research based on existing conditions. He also encouraged students to actively participate in international academic conferences and other forms of exchanges, timely grasp frontier technologies, and constantly broaden their horizons.
