CAST Holds Special Meeting on Advancing International S&T Organizations; ICNAME Engages and Reports Progress
At 9:00 a.m. on May 21, 2026, the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) convened a special meeting at the China Science and Technology Hall to outline key tasks and policy priorities for the development in international science and technology (S&T) organizations. Sijia Liu, Deputy Director of the International Office at Harbin Engineering University, and Professor Yigang Luan, Professor at Harbin Engineering University and Secretary-General of ICNAME, were invited to attend the meeting.

The meeting provided a comprehensive overview of the requirements for establishing international S&T organizations, including guidelines for registration and policies related to the development of dedicated organizational clusters. It also highlighted best practices and successful experiences from existing international S&T organizations. CAST reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening support for the establishment and development of such organizations through enhanced policy frameworks and institutional support.
During the meeting, Professor Luan Yigang introduced the significance of establishing an international S&T organization in the field of shipbuilding and ocean engineering. He emphasized the leading role and academic strengths of Harbin Engineering University in this domain and presented an overview of ICNAME, including its mission and future development plans.
CAST indicated that it will further advance the development of international S&T organizations and provide stronger policy support for ICNAME. In turn, ICNAME will serve as an international platform to foster academic exchange and collaboration in shipbuilding and ocean engineering, contributing to technological innovation and high-quality industry development.
