Chinese Successful Developed the DP3 Dynamic Positioning System Which Broke the Foreign Monopoly

However, in the real world, when we exploring the vast ocean, how to implement the steady of the ship with a “needle” in order to make the offshore operation be more reliable? With the development of our national marine business, deep sea drilling platform and submarine pipeline and cable laying, crane ship, marine salvage and other offshore operation have higher and higher requirements on reliability, how to accurately control in offshore platform stable operation point? Countries to have complete independent intellectual property rights of “the magic fixed needle of the ship”—the highest level of ship dynamic positioning DP3 is in urgent need. DP is the abbreviation of Dynamic Positioning System, depending on the positioning demand and effect, which can be divided into three levels DP1, DP2, DP3. DP3 level is the highest level of DP of the international maritime organization, which has the most accurate precision, anti-risk ability and the best effects. At the end of July in this year’s project acceptance, Chinese Academy of Engineering academicians and experts thought that this system achieved a major breakthrough in the engineering of the highest level of China's ship dynamic positioning system, breaking the foreign monopoly, filling the blank of domestic ship dynamic positioning system field, realizing "zero breakthrough".


The expert group thought highly of the professor Bian Xinqian of Harbin Engineering University and his team which made them felt very delighted. This kind of sense of achievement and happiness, just like raising a child, watching him learn to crawl, walking, running, and one day becoming a useful person to society, and that kind of sense of achievement, without experiencing the joy of children grow up, who can understand the feeling?


In more than 30 years research, the Bian’s team and this project grew together. “From whichever direction the winds leap, I remain strong, though dealt many a blow.” This not only is the characteristics of research object in the image description, but also is the portrayal of this team’s firmly belief. The research team came from the “marine equipment and control technology research institute”. Research institute was founded in 1982, Harbin engineering university, professor, school of automation control theory and control engineering discipline leaders, doctoral supervisor Bian Xinqian gave it a spirited name ----Bei Sa, which had the meaning of English transliteration of “Best Sea Assembly Institute(BSA)” and free translation of “being valiant and heroic in north” as well.


In 1983, this team in the country took the lead in setting about researching the technology of ship dynamic positioning, for the first time in the domestic set up under the action of wind flow, ship dynamic positioning in the state of the movement of the mathematical model of the key problems, such as to master the basic principle of dynamic positioning technology, became the first domestic production level (DP1) dynamic positioning system product research and development base, for our country in ship dynamic positioning technology research in the field of development laid a solid foundation.


Over the past 30 years, the team firmly in their research directions has been engaging in control theory and engineering application of vehicle research, even in the 80s, when there were just few scientific projects, they also were able to endure loneliness, bearing the neglect by others. Over the years, breed innovation on the thick accumulation fruit also became taken for granted. Today, Harbin engineering university in the field of dynamic positioning system had became the irreplaceable important strength of technology, which naval and ocean engineering depends on.
