Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services (BVCPS) has announced the opening of its new Guangzhou laboratory specializing in the testing and certification of large domestic appliances, HVAC/R and automotive components and systems.

Strategically situated in the heart of South China, the laboratory occupies 2,300 square meters, staffed with experienced teams of technical and customer service specialists. The opening of the Guangzhou laboratory aims to support the rapid growth of the automotive industry in China as well as to meet with the increasing testing and certification needs of household electrical and electronics around the Pearl River Delta Area.

The new Automotive Product Testing Lab adds to Bureau Veritas global network of labs and provides a broad range of EMC and reliability (vibration / mechanical, climatic & combined mechanical / climatic) testing services. Clients include R&D and engineering teams of major automakers and their supply chains in the Pearl River Delta, one of the automotive manufacturing hubs in China, the world’s largest producer, and buyer, of automobiles. Products covered within the scope includes infotainment systems, airbag/engine ECUs, air temperature controller packing systems, window motors, water pumps, actuators, lighting systems, alternators, remote keyless entry systems, hybrid components and much more.

The Electrical & Electronics Lab provides performance and safety testing for household electrical products such as dishwashers and washing machines as well as HVAC/R products including water heaters, humidifiers, air conditioners and refrigerators. The lab supports clients with their understanding and compliance with the regulatory needs of associations / governments, as well as their buyers’ performance requirements.

Sabrina Xue, Bureau Veritas’ Guangzhou E&E Lab Manager commented: “The setup of this laboratory is a key milestone in Bureau Veritas’ expansion of its automotive and electrical and electronics business line.” Sabrina added: “As well as the addition of a key location to our fast-expanding Automotive and E&E network, unique to our Guangzhou lab are two multi-function performance test chambers. Our calorimeter test chamber is the only one in Greater China that can test in extra low temperature such as DB-15C/WB-16C whilst our air enthalpy test chamber is also unique in being able to test the brine source heat pumps.”
