French maritime services group LD Armateurs has strengthened its specialised offshore fleet with the delivery of the DP2 multipurpose support vessel TVO Mariner to its subsidiary LD TravOcean.

The vessel, previously known as SIDDIS Mariner, was delivered to LD Armateurs in mid-September 2026 following an acquisition announced earlier this year. The addition of TVO Mariner will enhance LD TravOcean’s capacity to deliver integrated subsea solutions, including submarine cable installation and repair, trenching services, deepwater ROV operations, and support for offshore wind projects.

TVO Mariner is an 88.3-metre multipurpose support vessel built to Norwegian design standards. The vessel has a payload capacity of approximately 2,500 tonnes, a 950-square-metre working deck, DP2 dynamic positioning capability, and accommodation for up to 70 personnel. These features make it suitable for a broad range of offshore engineering tasks requiring stable positioning, deck capacity, and flexible project execution.

The vessel will operate under the French International Register and will be crewed by seafarers from LD Armateurs. Technical and ship management activities will be managed by LD Armateurs, while subsea operations will be carried out by LD TravOcean’s specialist teams.

For LD TravOcean, the delivery of TVO Mariner represents an important step in gaining greater control over project execution, from mobilisation to offshore delivery. By owning and operating a dedicated DP2 support vessel, the company will be better positioned to provide reliable, agile, and high-performance services for clients in the submarine cable and offshore renewable energy sectors.

The acquisition also reflects a wider trend in the maritime and offshore industries: growing demand for versatile vessels capable of supporting multiple marine engineering markets. As offshore wind farms, submarine power cables, telecommunications networks, and deepwater infrastructure continue to expand, DP2 multipurpose support vessels are becoming increasingly important assets for installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair operations.

For the naval architecture and marine engineering community, TVO Mariner highlights the importance of adaptable vessel design, dynamic positioning, large working deck capacity, and integrated subsea equipment support.
