Two PhD students from the College of Power and Energy Engineering Became the First Global Youth Ambassadors for Carbon Neutrality and Green Development

Recently, the inauguration ceremony of the Global Youth Committee on Carbon Neutrality and Green Development (GCNG) was held in Beijing. Harbin Engineering University becomes a member of the GCNG, Ph.D. students from the College of Power and Energy Engineering, Jie Shi and Majed Shreka, becomes the first Global Youth Ambassadors for GCNG, and Associate Professor Yuanqing Zhu becomes the Correspondent of the GCNG.

The establishment of the Global Youth Committee on Carbon Neutrality and Green Development responds to the global expectation for youth power, enhances the sense of responsibility and mission of domestic and foreign youth to participate in achieving carbon neutrality, and is conducive to promoting the deep participation of global youth in global governance. As a member unit of the GCNG, teachers and students of the university will work together with global youth to discuss energy transformation and green development, unite and work together to build a community with a shared future for mankind and create a green and beautiful future.

The Global Youth Committee on Carbon Neutrality and Green Development is a youth organization approved by the Ministry of Education and working under the auspices of the Chair of Carbon Neutrality and Climate Change-Driven Green Transformation, initiated by the China University of Petroleum (Beijing), and co-sponsored by 16 domestic and international colleges and universities, including Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Harbin Engineering University, Russia’s Ufa University of Petroleum and Technology, and Kazakh-British Technical University.
