From April 28 to 30, the 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Forum on Green and Sustainable Development was held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, under the theme “Implementing the Global Governance Initiative and Jointly Promoting Green and Sustainable Development within the SCO.” The forum was jointly hosted by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Committee on Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, and the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province.

China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC), as a representative of China’s central state-owned enterprises, was invited to attend the forum. At Parallel Forum III, titled “Scientific and Technological Innovation Driving Green Transformation,” CSSC delivered a keynote speech titled “Smartly Navigating the Deep Blue, Setting Sail for a Green Future, and Jointly Building a New Future for Sustainable Development within the SCO.”

In the speech, CSSC systematically presented its practical achievements in green and low-carbon transformation and development, and put forward cooperation initiatives under the SCO framework. This fully demonstrated CSSC’s sense of responsibility and commitment as a national team in supporting international green development.

During the forum, participants exchanged views on key topics such as green cooperation, diversified governance, and technological innovation, contributing to the development of a green, low-carbon, and sustainable growth framework within the SCO region. To build consensus, the forum also released the Ningbo Initiative on Sustainable Development Cooperation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization: Jointly Building an Ecological Future and Advancing Green Development Together.

As a leading enterprise in China’s shipbuilding industry, CSSC stated in its forum speech that it has always firmly upheld the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind. Keeping pace with the global trend of green and low-carbon development, CSSC follows the core principle of “building green ships and building ships in a green way.” With the goal of “supporting the development of a world-class shipbuilding group through a green and low-carbon industrial system,” CSSC has made continuous efforts in three major areas: green manufacturing, green ships, and green industries.

Through sustained innovation and development, CSSC has achieved remarkable results and established a green transformation path that reflects both the characteristics of the shipbuilding industry and the advantages of a central state-owned enterprise.

In view of the broad cooperation platform and development potential offered by the SCO, CSSC proposed four initiatives at the forum: jointly building a green manufacturing system, jointly promoting the green transformation of shipping, jointly advancing clean energy cooperation, and jointly sharing the achievements of green development. These initiatives are expected to inject new momentum into deepening green cooperation within the SCO framework.

CSSC’s participation in the SCO Forum on Green and Sustainable Development has further enhanced its brand influence in the field of international green cooperation.
