Harbin Engineering University Hosts 2023 High-Level Forum on the Construction of Maritime Community with a Shared Future
Recently, the 2023 International Forum on Building A Maritime Community with A Shared Future International Conference on Maritime Equipment & Technology and Sustainable Development, jointly organized by Harbin Engineering University, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, and other units, was held in Beijing. The theme of the conference was “Gathering Technological Strengths in Ship-Sea Engineering and Building a Maritime Community with a Shared Future”.
Representatives from relevant departments such as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Secretariat of the National Commission for UNESCO in China, academicians, representatives from China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, Harbin Engineering University, and various industry associations, research institutes, universities, and enterprises in China participated in the conference both online and in presence.
At the conference, experts discussed and exchanged ideas on the construction of the Maritime community with a shared future, ocean equipment technology, and sustainable development, worked together to address various challenges at sea, strengthened interconnectivity at sea, and promoted pragmatic cooperation in various fields. The conference aimed to promote the development of the blue economy, encourage cultural exchange in the maritime sector, advance the construction of the Maritime Community with A Shared Future, and provide suggestions and recommendations for implementing the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, achieving the goals of the United Nations’ Ocean Decade Science for Sustainable Development, and promoting sustainable development of the ocean.
